How To Read Air Suspension Load Gauge

  1. I'm merely wondering if such a thing exists. I have a gauge on my nuance for the pressure on the drives and so I know that if its 60 or below I'm non overweight. I would think if there was a similar gauge reading the pressure in the trailer then you could avoid going to the cat calibration more often than not. Does everyone have such a gauge? I know the technology has to exist for such a system and I tin can't sympathise why all trucks don't have these because it would save a lot of time and would totally pay for itself merely not having to scale.

  3. Merely get a t valve and add an air approximate. Get a full load, swing by a cat scale and verify your air guess and legal scale weight. Washed for less than $50
  4. Our trailers are a mix of PSI gauges and calibrated weight boxes. In a large fleet where trailer swaps happen regularly, the gauges are not terribly useful since most have about a 2 PSI +/- variance at 34k (in our fleet of Not bad Danes... 34k may be 76 PSI, or it may be lxxx PSI)

I guess it depends on precisely where the ride height is set at.

    stwik and ChaoSS Thank this.
  5. Stexan has it dead on.

My tractor scales are authentic enough to know that I'm not over on my drives, only unless I scaled an earlier load and compared information technology to the trailer scales I don't trust the scales to know that I'm not over gross, which is oftentimes more important since I pull a spread axle and almost never accept problems with axle weights. Information technology does come in handy with weird loads that you can't tell where the eye of the weight is.

However, function of our fleet stays with their trailers and so long every bit they make sure they are staying calibrated, can know how much they weigh and where that weight is without a calibration. Very convenient when a load might have a few hours to set upward properly and the nearest scale is 30 minutes away.

  6. Had this on my Trailking lowboy, pretty accurate, once you calibrate it.

  7. Like was stated higher up, T into a trailer airbag later on the leveling valve and run to a gauge. If its your trailer, y'all'll effigy out what pressure you lot need to be at to exist legal. I've seen some guys with super b'due south get artistic and run the airlines back up to the truck through a 2nd set of gladhands and mount the gauges in the window of their hedache racks then they can watch the gauges every bit they get loaded and non have to go out the cab.
  8. Here'due south a question for y'all @NorthernMechanic
would it be possible to make an air gauge in a line that you lot tin connect betwixt your truck and trailer red gladhands? Would information technology testify you the same equally T-ing into an airbag on the trailer? If it is possible it might be something for people to deport around if they booty many different trailers to know if they are for sure under or are for sure need to scale it.
  9. If you're talking to read suspension pressure so no. The red line volition be charged to ~120psi at all times the brakes are released. The estimate would have to be connected somewhere in the line between the air bags and the trailer leveling valve.
  10. Had 1 on my dash at Beelman. All company trucks did and virtually o/o's as well. Our trailers had a quick connect and the tractors had a air line equivalent to 5th wheel slide line to plumb it all. Very handy since nosotros normally pulled the aforementioned trailers as well as had to load off our gauges as well.
